I Heart Fossils

Hi! I’m Jamie Lynn! I heart fossils! And chances are, if you’ve found this little blog, you do too! Beauty is all around and Nature has gifted us with jewels of stone which we can appreciate in their natural environment, or, if the conditions are right, take these little (or not so little!) gifts home to appreciate forever.

In Texas, we are blessed with an abundance of Cretaceous era fossils (65-140 million years old). Since most of Texas was a shallow inland sea for millions of years, there are fossil shells, gastropods, echinoids, ammonites and other wonderful invertebrates as well as larger animals such as mosasaurs, reptiles (crocs and turtles) and many other creatures. We also have areas of older fossils from the Pennsylvanian era (300-320 million years old) scattered around Texas where these ancient rocks have been exposed.

I hope you enjoy the posts about my finds and my travels! Also feel free to check out my website www.fossil-quest.com to see pictures of individual specimens to help with your own Fossil Identification!

P.S. A little about me, Jamie Lynn – I am an artist working in various mediums (silk, metal and glass) and a professional bellydancer who loves to travel, read sci-fi, wear boots, eat all the foods, and pet all the cats.
